my computer trys to boot from the hard disk but i want it to boot from dvd. my keyboard is not working. the keyboard is ps2. the keyboard work on other machines. what should i do?

What do you mean your keyboard does not work? Have you put your keyboard PS/2 connector in the right slot? Do you have a usb adaptor for the keyboard, try that.

And could you tell me what motherboard you are using.

Remember more information is better than no information.
 
Could be a dodgy PS2 connector or whatever controls that interface, or maybe it's not been enabled by the BIOS. USB keyboard is the way to go, provided of course that the BIOS is set up to see a USB device.

Anyway you just need to try some different keyboards. Not much you can do without one as there's no other way (not really anyway) to tell your BIOS to change.
 
ok thanks guys i got a new keyboard which works but now when i boot the computer it says insert system disk and press enter. i have tryed both the motherboard drivers cd and the windows 7 install disk but none work. help.
