I've just finished building my new Conroe rig (see below for specs) and it's on and working. I went into bios put the CD rom as first boot (and disabled all other boot devices) and restarted. It's coming up could not detect bootable media. I've tried two different XP install CDs and two different ATA cables and the same thing is happening. Any ideas?

E6600
2 gig geil
P5B standard edition (only has one IDE controller)
X1900XT

The CDrom is detected and the light comes on when I put the disk in. I'm able to boot into my old install of windows on my HD.

Thanks for the help. I am such an idiot. The boot menu had atapi (i think) cd rom device so I selected that. If i'd gone down the boot menu a bit further i'd have found my actual CD rom.
Edit: what a fricking noob thing to do. I must have built over a 100 systems in my time but it seems whenever I build for myself something always goes wrong.
