hi,

As some of you may know from my other post, ive bought a new hard disc. Everything was running fine until i started playing a few games. This message seem to pop up so often that its untrue

Now, this has happened before but not so often , could this be oof the enw hard disk i added?

PSU: Hiper type R 480W

that is running: 7800GT
2 hard disc
3700+ (not overclocked)
a Dvd drive

tahts all i can think of that requires a significant amount of power, and i dont understand why a 480W cannot support that

480W should be plenty, although lots of people have been having problems with hiper PSU's but not that problem i dont think.

As said if the psu is working ok 480w is more than enough for that lot. Im running more than that on a 350w antec right now with no probs.

I have the same message with my 6600GT AGP card. Power connector plugged in and a Seasonic 600W PSU! I have no idea what causes the message or if it is a serious problem.

Hiper! Yikes.

I haven't seen any bad reports from 430w Hipers? I had one of the dodgey 580w modulars (why im now using my old antec 350w) but from what I have seen they are a different breed to the 430w?

completely agree there, the 480W hypers are very good, there just seems to be a problem with the 580 modular ones.

back to the OP are you powering the card off a separate rail to your other devices? if not try to make sure that the GFX is the only powered item on that particular supply form the PSU.

Well, I guess it's not the PSU then. Does anyone know anything about this then? Is it a glitch in the drivers? Some different hardware issue? I must admit I'm a bit stumped.

BTW, my 600W Seasonic is only powering a AMD 2500+ at 3200 speeds and 6600GT graphics, so Im pretty sure it's not a power problem.
