Im currently using a wireless network, connected to the internet via a router.
I have just got an xbox in my room, and would like to be able to try out the free trial of Xbox Live I have.
I have an nforce4 ultra motherboard with the LAN capabilities onboard, so was hoping to connect my Xbox to Live, by plugging the ethernet cable from my Xbox, to my wired lan port on my PC, so it can connect to the internet I recieve wirelessly by my network. Is it possible to do this, and if so can someone explain to me how to set it up, or do you need to plug the Xbox directly into the router?

Thanks,

Alex

How do I get DCHP setup via windows, rather than via the router, as right now, the computer itself doesnt assign IPs via DCHP, and thus when I tried that method, it wasnt connecting as the xbox/pc wasnt being assigned an IP.

Thanks

PS. Its an Xbox original, not an Xbox 360. Im not sure how much different the setup would be however.

Managed to get it working now :)

Had to manually set an IP for my LAN on my PC network connection, and then had to manually setup an IP for my Xbox and type in the DNS servers stuff. Have got it running through a switch I had lying around to prevent any cabling issues :)
