Hey,

Just installed a new 7950 onto my Asus P8Z77 board, running on a SB2600k

Everything at stock ATM, anyway, device manager isn't seeing the new 7950, and there's no output through d

I went into the bios and set the PCI-E GPU to primary, but its still not finding it.

What could i possibly be missing?

i think this card is doa. Tried a different PCIe, tried a different dvi, still not happy. Went through the UEFI with a fine toothcomb and i'm fairly sure ive not missed anything.

Guess i best whip out an old 5770 and see if its the mobo or the card.. (mobo is new too)

You've plugged in both power cables to the graphics card?

Yep,

Its not the card.. I'm currently typing this using it on my old Q6600... It HAS to be something with the mobo ?? It's an Asus P8Z77-V LX on a 2600k. It doesn't even show up in device manager, only the onboard gfx from the 2600k shows in there.

i've tried both PCI/E slots and nothing. its as if its not there. I've also put my old 5770 in the slot and still nothing.. UNLESS I'm completely missing something from the bios ? I'm really scratching my head this sec.. Bad mobo? Why does everything work fine other than the PCI/E ?? and yes both pci/e powers are plugged in.

Could it be a bad mobo? or am i missing something in the bios? Perhaps cos the SB gfx is enabled overriding ? this is my first time playing with a SB

IIRC, with my asrock SB mobo, it would only go to onboard graphics if there was no pcie graphics available, not sure if it's the same with Asus.

Is the card in the slot properly, and can you try the second pcie slot

Tried both slots on the P8Z77 and both doing the same thing i.e nothing. :(

Google isn't coming up with anything either...

Bought the board and 2600k as part of a combo on fleabay.. Both NIB though.. But even so, its a flea bay seller, rather than a legit company.. What's the worst that can happen? I have to buy a new mobo....

Does seem weird though, it is as if something is forceably disabling the PCI/e slots on that board.

and yes i've updated to the latest bios off the Asus website...

If you think the mobo could be at fault, buy a new one from OcUK, if that works, ask for a partial refund from the eBay seller for your mobo and keep te new OcUK one which has warranty.

Fixed the problem !! It was the EATX12 cable at fault !!!!! Swapped that out and everything was working as it should be !! Had me though !!! Had me flipping swapping out GPU's left right and center all night ! Oh well, at least its fixed.. Now onto the gaming !!! ohhhh yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah !
