With an Alienware M17 R4...waste of fkn money....and a lot of it at that  - not only will it not hold the keyboard light settings, 3 times in the last 2 hours the screen saver should have kicked in and didnt....the screen just went black. I touched the finger pad, enter button, power button.....nothing brought it back back.....I had to hold my finger on it (power button) then got the resart in safe mode ect cause I shut it abrupt, what the hell else was I meant to do!

Think my days with this are numbered...not even had the fkn thing a week!

I should have upgraded my desk top....same as what mark's doing I think

Get a refund mate, I believe they have a 14-day money back return policy. I bought the M17 and the lights on the alienhead went faulty. You need to ring them and they bring a courier round to collect it. Desktop's are the way foward the m17 weigh's a ton so It's not exactly a laptop lol.

I know what you mean but it was fine till the other day with the keyboard carry on and now this....i havent toched anything that way, it just happened. I'm fast getting ****ed off with it and wish i didnt buy it and just stuck to my desk top......which is more reliable than thing will ever be

Is metalfacemark going to refund me......dont think so......i'll fk about with later (if i can be rsd) but apart from that if Dell cant help, i'll cut my loses and get rid

Why do people buy alienware stuff. Send it back get a refund.

In theory because of higher quality and more features...

They're certainly the only company that can do you an 18" laptop with dual top-end mobile graphics cards... And with enough space inside for optical drive, three SSDs and an mSATA drive. They're aesthetically pleasing...

They also *can* it seems be of high quality... however they seem to have no Quality Assurance department, so while some staggeringly perfect examples leave the factory, other woefully imperfect examples also go winging thier way to suddenly unhappy customers.

The quality thing is something a lot of bigger name brands seem to do in this decade - Gibson guitars are VERY hit and miss with regards to quality, make Alienware look positively consistent! Trouble is it makes for a very bad impression, and in the internet age, everyone can read that bad impression - makes sense to reduce your profits by 4% or 5% in order to make sure your QA is top notch.

I'm a little wierd and one day I want to play games on the sofa, the next in bed, and then the following day in my comfy gaming chair... so a great big screen on a gaming laptop makes perfect sense for me... perhaps there's some other weirdies who think the same

Clevo have started offering a dual graphics card option which I would now go for instead of the m18x. Hasn't the warranty transferred over to you know as the new owner?

Yes I did it a couple of days when I got it - havent a chance to fk about with it tonight but will tomorrow....if I cant get I'll phone Dell, and if no joy with them (i'd expect there to be though), it's getting sold and I'l take the dunt

The first week I had mine was a bit stressful but after I did a fresh install and got it setup right its been very stable. Go to the notebook review forum and get help in the m17 section. Once you get it setup you will love it. Also some dell people hang there so if something is broken they can get you sorted.
There are a lot of haters when it comes to Alienware but the laptops are very good.

I went to the notebook forum and got help from a alienware rep and sorted my problems out. Don't they have a year warranty anyway?

I shouldnt need to do that, and especially getting it of someone from here that's very clued up on them....plus I'll need to download it, put it on disc unless you can do it straight from their site (which I doubt).

I'll try that forum

If they're seemingly that good....why are there so many haters then
