ok just bought a new rig, e4300 @ 2.4ghz 1 gig ocuk ram 1950pro 512mb

Although im fairly impressed with it games wise, general tasks in windows such as opening internet windows when something is installing or music is playing etc its always hanging etc and it doesnt seem much of an improvement over my athlon xp 2600 :S I also had several crashes in bf2 I think i had to press the restart button about 15 times on day 1 when i put it all together. Windows is fully up to date. Is there something i might have obviously forgotten to do?

elite, im quite happy mostly with bf2 but ill give that a go to see if it gives me a boost anyway, already did it for steam.

cpuz says im running at 2504mhz

I tried looking for this speedstep thing in bios but cant find it. Its an intel thing right? Only ever had amd

thanks for help

Ram is running at 400mhz so 800 effective and is in "async" at 2T command rate

wierd thing is i cant select the second core on the drop down list now

I think maybe Ill run a stabilty test though surely if it was instable it would restart and not be slow? Ive got nothing but windows bf2 and steam installed and the pc really takes longer to boot than my athlon xp, I mean wtf

Disk wise im using a brand new samsung 80gig sata drive

fresh install of windows xp yes. all connections are connected to board.
When i say hanging i mean a couple of second which my athlon xp never did so something is obviously wrong.

Just looking into bios version now.

Pasty what do you mean about the vdimm voltage?

Dont know if this helps, if anyone notices anything drastically wrong in cpuz

RAM part number is M2Y51264TU88B0B-25C

However i cant find anything with voltage, My board has it at 1.8, shall i put it to 2.0v? that should be safe enough to test right?
