Not impressed with c2d..whats wrong

Anything up to 2.2v will be fine :)

And to those worrying about E4300, I run one currently at stock and it is about 5x as fast in general windows tasks than my old P4 northy 3.06.

Aye - I was about to say the same.
I leave Speedstep etc all switched on.
I run a Core2 E6600 based system which I have overclocked to a modest 3.2GHz, however I still leave Speedstep and the likes switched on.
As soon as the system needs the extra CPU power it just kicks in.
 
What mobo drivers, are they all installed and running?

Are you using a SATA disk and what mode is that running in?
