No where seems to have many Nvidia 280's left in stock, what new Nvidia card is going to be replacing it any day - week soon:confused: is it going to be the revised 280 named 290 just on a smaller fab or does anyone think we will be seeing something much more exciting like a GX2 dual card or the rumered GTX 350.

It does seem strange that stocks are low in the places i looked too. I doubt its because of them flying off the shelves from demand, at current prices. It does seem to point to the smaller fab versions arriving sooner than later - good news for those waiting, but i bet the prices will either stay the same at best, or even go up.

Prices will go up, calling it a 290 means they can now hike the price, as it then becomes a higher card.

Look at the new 260's, 2-3 frames faster, yet the robbing ***** want and extra £50+ for them, £50+ for 3 frames, get ******* stuffed Nvidia, they missed the boat anway there, as if they changed the name as well, the ***** could have hiked em up even more, they'll have to fire the guy who missed that opportunity to make even more cash on em, boss must be livid.

In fairness to Nvidia (and board partners) the new 260s should be selling at the same price as the old version. Its only UK retailers who impose any extra.

LOL!!!

I think you ought to calm down a bit, it's a graphics card...

And no doubt you're very happy with your 4850.

Wouldn't mean to be the malcontent of these forums or anything, but I for one am reasonably happy with my gtx280 :) :p

Now granted, I got it at the very lowest price they were going (over a month ago).

I'll say this - Nvidia should have come up with more umph with this gen, given the time and money they had to work on it.

But one thing that I'll give them, it's probably the first graphics card I've ever used since the voodooII, where I've had absolutely ZERO problems with each and every application/game I run  Given my past experience with graphics cards (and PC hardware in general, which is extensive btw), I figure that's maybe worth an extra £50 out of my wallet. I just want stuff to work, and if it does, it's worth a premium in my humble opinion.
