Ok,

So, as most of you know I am a proud owner of a 360 (bought April '07). I was playing on Gears of War this morning and a message comes on screen - Warning, 'disk unreadable - Clean and try again.
So i go back into then menu and open up the tray to find the Gears disk scratched in several perfect circular lines. It is clear that something has caught it and has ruined the disk. It crashes every time I try and get passed a certain point.

Any ideas? I bought it from a certain Game shop.

GoW is on the disc replacement program, costs £10 though. Could get a cd/dvd repairer. You could go back to where you got the game from and say it doesn't work. I suspect after seeing the scratch they'll say it's Microsofts fault and not change it though.

You should also give Microsoft a ring about the 360, tell them it's scratching discs even when it hasn't been moved and you can't afford to buy all your games again and again, then they should agree to fix it for you. My 360 is currently off with MS for this reason.

I had exactly the same message last night while playing Forza 2. Disc seems fine though, but I havent tried it again yet!

Let's hope all is ok.

I've had two copies of forza repeatedly show me this message, yet no other game does. Discs seem fine though :S When trying to read the disc it make a "Chick, chick" sound and tells me to put it in an xbox 360 console :D

Ive had this damned message pop up numerous times, especially in GoW and Forza 2. Disks are not scratched though. The drive will just power down and then it pops up. I wish there was an option to install the games to the HD then it wouldnt be a problem.

I'm glad that the disc wasn't damaged but after ejecting it to check it went straight back to the dashboard without saving... Grrr!

My mates Xbox360 used to have one of the dodgy drives that would make games unreadable mid-play. He thought it was PGR3 and the shop exchanged it without problems, twice.
