not much info on cougar v3 1050w

Hi, i've been looking at getting a power supply, and was looking at the evga g2's and superflower range at 750w-850w, as i will be looking to get 2xgtx 970 or 2x r9 390's when the new cards come out.

on offer, and it looks like a good deal. However I can't find many reviews on these, only a few reviews of the old models from over 5 years ago

Could anyone reccomend going with this PSU? As the power rating would allow me a good amount of headroom, especially with overclocking.

On a separate note, does anyone know how I can search for items that provide free delivery, as I noticed that delivery would be free if i bought a PSU with a free delivery item when i was looking at gaming chairs.

That Cougar is made by HEC. Thats about all the info there is.

TBH a 850W EVGA/Superflower etc would suffice for your needs.

If you're looking at 2x 970s/390s, then an good qualty 850W will be fine.

If that unit is actually made by HEC (as per the nikktech review), then personally I would rather invest in a better PSU as HEC don't have the best reputation.

From what I've read it would be ok for gtx 970sli, but for the r9 390 crossfire on some forums people are reccomending 1000w which is why I wasn't sure. 2 x 290x's would also be an option, and i've read that they are powerhungry, especially after overclocking which is why i am considering this PSU

Just had a quick google of HEC and I definitely won't be buying this now.

1000W if you are running X99 and Crossfire 390s overclocked I usually suggest.

I got a Cougar PSU from Maplin (who I quite like actually) some years ago.

After a couple of months I got a loud pop, a bad smell and a non operational system.

I took the PSU back to the Farnborough shop

(And this was quite funny really)

They plugged it into their tester and there was a massive electrical explosion and it blew the fuses for the entire industrial unit!

I also looked up Cougar on the inter-web and got some very interesting inter-web links!

Wow. I'm considering furys in crosfire with the XFX preorder deal but I definitely won't be going near the Cougar PSU now. (Unless it gets reduced to half the price that it is now)
