I upgraded my netbook from the samsung nc20 to the 1201N, and the 1201N came with 2x1GB ram.
I got hold the 1x2GB ram from my nc20, and put it into the 1201N, so I had 1x2GB and 1x1GB
I thought it would give me a performance boost, however I noticed that windows7 only recgnised only 796MB as usable ram.
Today I got an additional 2GB ram module dulivered from crucial, so I have 2x2GB ram in my netbook and a much more respectable 3.5GB usable ram.
I was wondering how windows treats no paired ram, it seems that it goes by the lowest common denominator and only uses 1GB from the 2GB stick, if the stick is paired with a 1GB.
This might explain why my netbook was so sluggish yesterday, and today I'm listening to itunes, using windows live mail and browsing the net on firefox with my NETBOOK!!
