Hi guys

I recently designed a website for a friend and after looking on the OC host review decided to go for dream-hosting.

All has been fine since mid July and the service very reliable but on checking the site in the early hours of the morning it appears to be dead.

Both the domain name and IP address won't respond to either HTTP or FTP requests and all server status indicators are showing green. Had a response from the support team and they say everything is ok.

Just wondering if anyone else on dream-hosting is having any similar problems?

Thanks.

p.s. ignore the lack of commas. This keyboard is fudged.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Just tried the site and it seems to be working again. Weird :-s

Thanks again.

edit... Just checked the cP and one of the support guys told me that my IP was in their block list. How weird.

Is BT your ISP?
My fiancee used to have problems sometimes where we'd get an IP that was on her friends ISP's block list so whenever she tried to email her friend, it would get sent back saying she had a blocked IP.

Since moving to Be and getting a static IP, we've not had any problems.

Nope, Zen.

First time it's happened since I set up the account and I've been uploading stuff pretty much daily.

Just checked the router logs and we've had the same IP for a couple of days, so no chance of getting someone else's IP.

A lot of hosting providers (us included) will temporarily add your IP to a block list at the firewall level if a certain number of consecutive login failures are recorded. This prevents brute force attacks.

Nothing really to worry about and just a minor inconvenience when you get a false positive.
