Not running at right speed

Revelation! I checked the bios and changed multi to 12 (that was the max) and it's now running at 2.4Ghz perfectly fine! Doesn't seem to be any speed increase though.

Nevermind, PC froze for a few seconds came back on and windows is really snappy now, itunes opens in a third of the time, thanks guys!

Check your power settings - if you have the computer set to power saving it won't speedstep up to 12.5 even if it's under full load...
Had a similar issue the other day :)

Going by your screenshots, the voltage will need to be changed to ensure the cpu works properly at that speed, would set it to 1.225v or so, if cpuz is reading it right its only at 1.184v, the chip may or may not be stable there.

I think his issue is the BIOS, if he does have F6 its not seeing the full 12.5x and not reading the cpu properly to do the vcore and multi automatically.

It's running at 2.4Ghz now quite happily, I don't think a bios update would be worth it for the last 0.1

multiple runs of intel burn test are fine and I don't game on this machine so I'm happy, I'm sure it could get a decent overclock actually, but I'm not really competent at it haha, thanks for all of your help by the way, always appreciated
