Not showing correct amount of memory

Hi,

I have 2 1Gb sticks of memory and 2 512Mb sticks and my system was showing 3 gigs at start up and also in the My Computer properties.

I noticed today that only 2.5Gb is showing up at post and in the My comp properties. I assumed a stick or a slot was messed up so i put every single stick in every single slot and they all worked fine. As soon as i put all 4 in, it will only show 2.5Gb.

I have run CPUZ on my machine and that shows the memory in the slots and lists my memory being at 3 gig, but still at post and at the My Comp properties it shows 2.5.

Any ideas?

I think windows can only 'see' up to 2.5gb

With all 4 modules in use CPU-Z to check all 4 banks are populated.

In the SPD tab you can check the details of each slot on your board

Running 4 sticks can be problematic. Do you really need 3 GBs? 2 is fine for most people.

I think it has to do with a Memory Hole setting in either the BIOS or a INI file.
