Not so CPU-dependent GFX?

I have an HP Micro tower at home, and its more feasible to upgrade that machine rather than my ageing Socket A shuttle.

Has a pcie x16 slot, though I think I need to get a beefier PSU (only has a 250W jobbie in there - 1 hard drive, onboard sound, onboard graphics, DVD drive). I don't think its sensible to risk upgrading the gfx without getting a new PSU?

CPU may be upgraded later on - but at the moment I think its got an AM2 Sempron in there?

What would be best for it - running on 1280x1024, may play some recent-ish games, doesn't have to be at highest detail.

Cheers!

At the mo, its running onboard graphics, which do actually play quake 3 :P

I am worrying about the juice being sucked up on the 250w psu though!

But I'm sure a low power X2 would be fine eh?

Cheap 500w PSU
5600 X2
9600gt

All for about £180???

Decent rig and a massive improvment from what you currently have :D

I need to check whether the motherboard will support the 5600, however :P

Time to dig out some other stuff to sell! Though I may just get the PSU and gfx card for the time being.
