Not speeding but got flashed from fast car on opposite side

Motoring advice needed. Driving down A22 from East Grinstead to Felbridge there is a 30mph speed camera. I get to the white markers doing 28mph according to sat nav and 30 on the dial. A car on other side of road flew by at about 50mph and triggered the flash. Am I screwed cos of the idiot on other side of road as it's only marked on my side of road. Do not want fine and 3pts for something that's not my fault.

Their proof is the time taken for you to travel between the white lines/markers. So if you were going the speed limit, no you won't get a ticket.

If the camera was facing you then forget about it, also, if you were doing an indicated speed of 30mph in a 30mph limit, forget about it, you'd have to be doing over (a few mph, not bang on or even 31) that to trigger it.

Indeed you'd need to be doing 36 to get flashed.

It was triggered though, that is the OP's point.

By someone else speeding in the opposite direction not by himself as he also stated in the OP. The line markers are completely irrelevant in this case, he won't get a ticket because he didn't trigger the camera due to not speeding and it was a rear facing/trigger/catching gatso which was facing him (one would assume) and these do not get you for speeding towards them, only away.

Yes, you are totally screwed, you will receive 3 points and a fine for doing 28mph in a 30 zone.

The other car will have triggered the flash, so there will be a pair of photos with your car in them. Those photos will show your car moving a certain distance in a certain time, thereby showing that your speed was within the limit.

They don't just fine everyone who appears in a GATSO photo, they do check these things.

Pretty sure the driving test does not require you to know the inner workings of a speed camera.

They won't even check it if you're going towards the GATSO as you can't be prosecuted, regardless if you set the camera off or not.

Just because I've asked a question about a speed camera situation I've never come across myself does not mean I am not worthy of my licence.

For everyone else who's asked the gatso was on my side with the white markers on my side. I was slap bang in the middle of the white markers when the car speeding past on opposite triggered the flash. It's only got white markers on my side snd that's why I queried it.

The letters are sent out indiscriminantly if you're going away from a GATSO regardless of speed. There's been several posts on PH of people being flashed on a two lane road by the car in Lane 2. They reply to the letter asking the partnership to double check the evidence and it gets dropped.
