Hi Guys,

I have just overclocked my A64 3200 to 2.4ghz and seem to be stable in prime 95. Now I'm sure I can go further but I'm a bit worried about my system temps.
At the moment I'm doing 33c idle and 45 under load with the stock hsf.
Could someone please tell me what would be the max safe temps under load.
Cheers

what you've got at the moment is just normal operating temperatures. You can go another 5-10C on the load temp before you might want to consider some additional cooling.

If you bought a Dell of PC World type PC (probably with the temp sensor disabled  ) then it would probably run at about 65C all the time.

Agreed. Really anything up to 70c should be fine. Thing is, if you venture into that kind of territory for any appreciable amount of time you *could* shorten the life of your chip.

My 3500+ was at 57-60 under load with stock cooling (before I recently fitted a Zalman 9500) and that functioned (and still does) without any problems.
