Just installed the new motherboard -gigabyte z97 SOC force. The power button on the PC fires up the fans and the board, but does POST or anything until i press the internal power button, then it runs fine. Not sure if im acting an idiot here but im a bit warey after an msi gaming 5 going poop on me in a matter of hours!

Also, when i tried to Qflash a newer BIOS onto it i was getting an I/O error on boot up after installing the new bios. Tried F6 and F7a and had to cmos reset back to F4 to get it going. Teething problems ehhh

I think there might be a switch or something on the board that affects this,try looking in your mb manual

you can disable it so it powers up from the case button

did the bios's actually succeed in updating?

Ill look more at the manual now. Nope neither succeded, just had to revert back to the stock F4 bios

you might need latest @BIOS to update with and the app centre installed in windows

When it hangs is there any numbers/letters displayed on the little onboard display?

A0 displayed, its runnin cinebench and everything else no probs.
Couldnt see any switch in the manual, ive got the app center installed ill try the @BIOS

Went into the @BIOS and apparently im runnin 7A. Just the bootup problems now. the Cmos reset must have cured the differences between the BIOs version settings or something?

try swapping over the cases power and reset wires then start the pc with the case reset button

It does the exact same, just boots the h80i and case fans up and wont do anything until you push the mobo power switch

hahaha!! the lightning bolt(OC) switch was pushed in. At least this post is here for anyone else that comes across this idioticness. Apologies for the time wasting

yeah that's it,i read same thing few days ago but couldn't remember what it was called
