in the asus p6t i have the intel speedstep swicthed off, but when i run prime, my cpu in cpu-z fluctuates still. iss it meant to do this?

It doesnt stay at any of the settings, ive done various settings from the internet that ive found but no matter what i do, when i run prime the multiplier jumps up and down.. starts at 21x and drops to 16x, then up to 18x, then down again and so on...

Ive switched off everything people have told me to... ive updated the bios to the latest version (602)

Would something to do with temperates cause it? im getting 39 at idle and 85 on full load, but then the multiplier fluctuates.

Any ideas on what to do would be appreciated as im struggling to get my head around this lol

core i7 920 do, on asus p6t board.
would love to get 4.0, or 4.2 stable running a fenrir cooler. just not sure how.
