Not sure if serious - Amazon Drones

Can you imagine the amount of these that would go missing/be shot down when the Playstation 5 launch happens. ;)

So... the Milton Keynes warehouse apparently gets around 50k orders per day meaning that they would potentially have thousands of the things flying around all the time. Seems very unlikely.

I imagine they would have a pretty limited range and you'd pay very handsomely to get your order in 30 minutes from one of these so they probably wouldn't be that popular at least once the initial "OMG I WANT MY STUFF DELIVERED BY A DRONE!!!1!!1!!!11!" wore off.

but after they have recovered the initial costs there is no delivery guy to pay, FAR less fuel consumption.

and the range thing is not a massive issue as by the looks of the video, they are only aiming for major urban areas and a 10 mile radius.

i think it would be a massive leap forward. awesome idea, and i think its real.

Not sure if anyone has noticed... but check the wording on that Daily Mail article at the first bullet point. :D

I wonder if they'll delivery when it been snowing?

It would reduce cost for them after a while and ensure deliveries are on time and not like some of the cowboy services out there. I wouldn't mind a drone replacing some couriers who can take the time to write out a card but not bother to ring a bell or bang on the door.

What if people kidnap the drones?

It doesn't matter how much it costs them you'll be paying for the convenience and I can't imagine maintenance, insurance etc on these things will be cheap.

It could never happen. A project such as this relies entirely on the fact that the population are absolutely trustworthy. Which they aren't.

People will be legging it over to kick them in midair as they land, or follow one to the delivery point when they see it just to check if they've got a chance to nick the package if the recipient isn't waiting.

To combat that, the drones would need a verification method upon landing before the package is released, AND a self-defence mechanism. I don't think they'll get away with allowing their drones to fly around with tasers. :D

Imagine the repercussions if one has a failure mid air and hits some old lady in the noggin. in London at least there are flying rules about how high you must fly so you can ditch safely, cant Imagine it working there

Weaponised drones! It's the future of both the nation's security, and making sure you get that game in time!
