Not sure to go with Asus or Gigabyte.

Both P35 series look good in reviews I've seen. I'm looking for a board for a Q6600.

With the Gigabyte. The GA_P35T_DQ6 is DDR3, but does that take DDR2 also? I'm thinking if it's compatible with both I should go with that. Otherwise, I'll have to go with the Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 for DDR2.

With ASUS, the P5K series sounds great from what I've read. There are so many of these things I can't figure out which one I want if I opt for ASUS again :). Again, if I am planning to upgrade to DD3 I think it'd have to be the Asus P5K3 Deluxe WiFi. Bit more pricey but ASUS has always been solid for me in the past, don't mind paying a bit more if it's quality. Another bonus is the Wifi - if it works well, I'm going to save on some space in the PCI area.

Throw me your opinions and advice please fellas.

DDR2 and DDR3 are not compatible with each other. There are a couple of boards that have separate slots for DDR2 and DDR3 though ...I know Gigabyte do one. Personally I would go with DDR2 as DDR3 is way to expensive right now and not really worth it imo.

From what I’ve seen Asus have gone downhill lately and there’s been a lot of problems. That’s why I went with Gigabyte anyway. :)

Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 ;) Rock solid performance, very highly recommended.

I'm also after a Gigabyte board (coming away from Asus). The DQ6's have crazy cool, do the DS4's? Ideally I like something like the Noctua fan, but I don't think it fits any of these?

The GA_P35_DQ6 is £129 getting close to the price of the GA_X38_DQ6 of £176.

At the moment I thinking between:

GA_P35_DS4 or just spend a wad and get the GA_X38_DQ6

Personally, i'd opt for the Abit ip35 pro, played with one of these the other day, and they really do live up to their reviews..

Seems there have been some RAM compatability issues with the GA_P35_DQ6. Is anyone running OCZ PC2-8500 HPC with this board? This is the ram I'm thinking about getting along with it. Would there be any problems with it? I don't see it in the compatible RAM section in the sticky for this board.
