I upgraded my CPU, motherboard and ram about 6 weeks ago and after a few days of doing the upgrade my PC started doing random reboots and had trouble doing restarts, by not posting.

So to cut the story short ,after weeks of testing the ram and motherboard for faults which their is none, updating and tweaking the bios and also getting advise off the Gigabyte tech support on bios settings for my setup. I temporary swapped my memory with a friend who was having problems with his crucial ballistix(2GB) after his 3rd RMA. I have been running it for the last 10 days with no problems at all and he has run my ram with no problems to.

So now I know the ram is just incompatible with my motherboard, which leaves me with the dilemma of do I just buy some more ram and do a simple swap or should I change my motherboard and upgrade to a P45 chipset?

This would also depend on how much I can get for my motherbaord, I thought £55.

This is the ram I would get and Gigabyte said would work well with my board

This the P45 baord I quite like

I personally would for the other board as it offers many more features such as Crossfire.

Also I think you would find It hard to get £55 for it, maybe £40.

I'm not bothered about crossfire, the main reason I would swap is for PCIe 2.0 for any future graphics cards. If I will only get about £40 for it, I would not sell as I have only had the board a few months max and they still sell for £80 - £85.

seems like you and your friend should keep
each other's ram

Unfortunately due to him having to RMA his ram so much, this has put me off doing this and from what I have read on a few forums this is very common with crucial ballistix. . I just think I could be inheriting more problems in the future with this memory
