I currently have 2 year old system I use for gaming

I have a 280x msi and crappy iiyama monitor I want to upgrade.

I'd like a free sync or gsync monitor and there's a great deal on a free sync monitor by AOC on over clockers but I'm not sure what card to get ideally I want to spend as little as possible, I'm hoping to sell my existing card and monitor to help fund the upgrades.

I don't know to get a used 780ti and spend more on a gsync monitor or get the good deal on the aoc free sync and amd card.

I want the best picture and performance for the money but don't know where to start

The place to start is deciding on a budget and giving us the rest of your spec, including the power supply. Also, whilst a good Freesync monitor will look great you'll be tied to AMD cards if you want to continue using the Freesync feature - not necessarily a bad thing but something to bear in mind nonetheless.

Apologies

My budget ideally wouldn't go much above £400

I have 650 watt power supply
I5 4670k that I haven't over clocked
8gb ram

I do like amd cards they do seem to consistently offer good price to performance ration he ever I'm not loyal to any I just want the best bang for the buck used or new

Assuming you're PSU is a decent one then it'll be fine :)

That's a reasonable budget too. AMD do produce good cards - I'm still running an R9 290 in one of my systems and at 1080p it's still excellent. Nothing wrong with going red..

Ok, this is where I'd spend the money. Good 144hz monitor with 3yr onsite warranty (essential in my opinion). GPU will eat anything you throw it at, especially at 1080p

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £416.68
(includes shipping: £11.70)

i bought the benq, 144 hz monitor that overclockers have on a fantastic offer currently at £200. you have to mess with default settings upon arrival but it is a fantastic 144 hz monitor.

If you really want to go green...another great offer i've purchased...

258 + 20 pounds cashback, that would be a little more than your budget but both for £438 after cashback....
