not sure where the problem is.

so i went to start up the machine this moring and nothing happend.

at 1st i thaught the psu had decided to go so i trid another kettle lead thinking it may be the fuse, but nothing.

i tried the paperclip test, this worked my pump and loop started up no probs.

so now i thaught the motherboard, i put the 4 pin back in at the top then put the 24 pin into the board, then as i done that the pasu started up and the computer started to boot, i touched the 24 pin and it cut out again.

its running now but im sure if i touch the 24 pin it will cut out.

so question is, is it the psu or the mobo? from a cable managment pov the 24 pin isnt pulled tight so its not being stressed.

psu is a corsair gs 800
mobo is an msi z68a g43-g3

is the 24 pin clipped and secure into the mobo, are the clip on the psu lead and the socket on the mobo ok or do they look damaged ?

the 24 pin is clipped in, secure.

no sign of pins out of place either on the psu or the socket, there is no play in the socket, dosnt look damaged. as soon as i touch that 24 pin the sysytem shuts down.

any smell of electrical burning or discolouring on the mobo or psu connector, sounds like a bad connection, when was the last time you messed about with mobo and psu side ie installation etc

its was when i installed the loop, about a 2 weeks ago.

cant smell anything, the plug itself seems ok.

do u have a spare psu to try for a few days to see if the problem persists

ok i just pressed on the mobo about 2 inch down from the 24 pin and it restarted, is it maby not on the risers properly at that end?

could well be, power off and check the screws are locked ok.

make sure to check ALL the screws not just the ones by the 24 pin.

I'm at work ATM. Im off tommorow so will strip it Dow and reseat the mono. I have a 24 pin extension. Would that help rule out a problem with the psu 24 pin lead?

wouldn't rule it out completly as it might affect the seating within the extension, but it would be worth a try just in case your 24 pin isn't securing itself in the socket.
