Hi guys,

Quick question - a few people have pointed out that when I email them using my personal email (domain purchased and using own hosting), that it ends up in their spam filter. I have a few people who use hotmail who have told me this and a few others with different providers.

Any ideas how I can change this? Is it the email address, the domain or what host I'm using that is causing this problem?

Cheers.
Mike

a spammer probably used the same webhost as you and got the IP of their smtp server banned. It could also be the previous owner of your domain that got it added to some blacklists, in which case there is nowt you can do. The best thing to do is use your ISPs smtp server and see if that helps. Unlike some webhosts, ISPs take steps to prevent spammers (e.g they might only let you send 50 emails per day) which means their servers are almost never blacklisted.

OK, cheers mate. Well, my domain is a fairly odd one so I can't see it having been used beforehand though it may have done. I'll try using 1and1's smtp server if it lets me. Thanks :)

Ok, cheers. For the time being, I have logged into 1and1 (who provide the domain) and created an outgoing email address with them, whereas the rest of my email addresses are actually on my hosting with tsohost.

Therefore, I've just set that as my outgoing email using 1and1s smtp server, which hopefully will get aorund the problem.

Ta!
