Was going to get a new PC after Christmas but thinking of getting a MacBook and a 24" TFT instead.

Would mainly use it for audio editing, web and graphic design.

Also like the idea I can hook it up to any tele and use Front View. I assume it has DVI out?

How much is the video adapter? And the docking station if there is one?

Would the MacBooks GFX be good enough for the 24" screen - was thinking of the Samsung SM-245B (1920x1200).

The mini DVI-I to DVI adapter is £15.00, as the adapter to take it to VGA. There is no docking station made by Apple.

The graphics can certainly handle that res, assuming you're not thinking about gaming. It'd be just fine for movies, general desktop use, and photoshop. :)

Wait until the new wave of macbooks comes to the UK, the US was only updated yesterday whereby if the speeds are now 2ghz and 2.2ghz respectively as opposed to 2ghz and 2.16 as they now feature an improved 800mhz FSB and a new Intel X3100 graphics chip which should speed things along nicely. :)

It can't be long :)

Do Apple offer any discount by ringing up or do they stick to their website prices?

They stick to their prices, unless you are a Further Education student, or a Higher Education student or teacher etc.

If you phone up you can usually blag the HE discount, which is what a lot of people on here do, they don't usually ask for ID over the phone, and you'll get a lot of money off. Generally it's around the price minus the VAT. (13% off iirc)

Meh, probably not yet, but hang on until January for any more updates.

Anything can happen with Apple, just buy a Mac when you need one as there's always going to be updates.

Cheers justin.

I dont mind the small spec updates, they dont bother me. But on the other hand a nice new aluminium case is worth waiting for

WHOA :O I am currently in college, I tried using the school web store and it's only showing a discount of £50 (Making the lowest spec macbook £650).

If I ring, am I going to get it at around £600? If so, I may have to ring them up... like now :O

Yup, just pretend your in uni, if they ask for ID say you don't have any etc. It's very rare for them to turn you down!
