I was thinking about getting either the Dell U2410 or the HP LP2475W, but I don't know which one is the better choice for me. Just wondered which one to go for, or if there are any others that you could recommend? I would mainly be using it for movies, internet and some odd gaming.

The Dell is really the better all rounder for its price ..... I would only go with the HP if the colours/viewing angles was what you wanted more. I think the HP has slightly higher input latency than the Dell for gaming.

Hmm, ok, i've been thinking for quite a long time about which one to get (going to be first LCD since CRT has died on me). The latency might be an issue that could come back to haunt me now you mention it, so I will probably opt for the Dell. Thanks for the advice anyways.

I totally disagree with your statment there mate.

The Dell has less connectivity and is more expensive.

I would personally say the HP is better connected, good at everything and is cheaper - BUT the Dell (if you get a good panel that doesnt suffer pink / green issues) is a good panel and is a newer technology.

I have been looking into this for a long time now and I was almost set on the U2410 - but now I discovered the pink / green issue and am totally back to square one.

The only thing putting me off the HP is that it is old and seems to be phasing out. There is also a newer HP to consider, the cheaper ZR240 (or something like that) but they are hard to find anywhere!!

I'm guessing if you get a panel that suffers from green / pink issues you can get it replaced? Or is this issue deemed not worthy enough to allow for a replacement or a refund?

You can replace it under DSR for any reason at all. I believe people with severe and immediately noticeable tint issues have been successful in returning it as an RMA but this does have its own issues. It depends on the retailer, partly.

You would have to return a pink/green Dell via DSR and not try and return it to Dell. Dell have hands down stopped taking returns on pink/green issue screens as their manufacturer says that it is all within threshold (even without looking at specific screens - it is within threshold!).

I am still also looking at screens.... still not decided. I had decided on the Dell u2410 - but got put off due to the pink / green issue.

I do like the HP, but the 25ms input lag puts me off and also the fact that they are dissapearing off the face of the planet.

So, I think I am gonna wait and see what happens with the new monitors coming in 2011 - there is an LG LED IPS panel coming and also ASUS or ACER have a new IPS coming too that looks great.

I currently use a HP ZR24w ..... for me its great for gaming and watching DVDs. Just takes a little more to tweak the colours which tftcentral.co.uk can help out.
