Not sure which X360 to get

The current 360 Elite is just as hot as the premium/core version as there have been no changes to either the motherboard, CPU, GPU, or cooling system.

The only difference is the larger hard disk and the HDMI cable, oh and the colour.

The elite has a new motherboard and has the new cooling system.

get the core. the difference between hdmi and a decent vga connection is negligible.

I presume from your comments, as you weren't keen on vga, that you weren't using the official vga cable. either that or your tv/monitor has a cheapo vga socket.

You presumptions are incorrect.

It was the official microsoft cable on my Samsung 26" LCD. When I plug the Mac Pro in via VGA and watch movies it looks perfect.

I would get the core, the main things to factor in to be getting a elite is :

Are you :

Going to buy films off the market place (HD Content which is a lot of GB's if your internet connection has a bandwidth limit.
Are you going to download game demos and keep them.

If you want a gaming machine get the core as you already have all the accessories. Personally I use the VGA cable and it is miles better than component. The picture is way sharper and the colours are perfect. I am glad I spent £20 on the VGA cable.
