This is what happens when your stupid and don't bother to plug you fans in to coll the rad. The fluid gets really hot which in turn makes the tubing soft. After a while the tube going to my front rad just slipped off while I was playing Rome 2 Total War.

The coolant has gone all over my recently painted wall staining it red, covered the top of the video card, gone all over the motherboard and PSU and stained my mouse mat.

When I was putting it back together I noticed how warm the tubes and fittings were (almost untouchable) although the rad itself was still relatively cool. I now have to dust sheet everything up and get the paint roller out again!!!

:o

I'm not sure, I guess for an hour in total. I occasionally felt the rad to see how hot it got but nothing in my system is overclocked so I didn't think there would be a problem until my wall stated turning red.

Probably because the radiator hadn't been bled, which isn't a surprise since the fans were forgotten.

I'd be surprised if your graphics card and motherboard still work after this.

Christ. Fingers crossed everything works for still :(.

I'm somewhat surprised though compressions should have clamped the tube the more it expands the tighter the clamp .

The compressions don't look like they're screwed down properly on pretty much all the fittings.

On mine, I leave no more than 2mm between the compression knurlings and fitting knurlings to make sure the tube is actually being compressed properly.

Ouch, hope it all still works, i used to forget to turn my pump on all the time before they brought out 12v molex pumps, i eventually had to put my PC and Pump onto the same fuse spur switch so the same sort of thing wouldnt happen to me.

Everything still works, the fulid is non conductive which seems to have saved my bacon.

I'm a bit concerned about the possibility that the rad wasn't bled which may have led to the fluid overheating. I bled the whole system the other day until I could see no more air bubbles in the trapped in the tubes and thr whole system was moving the fuild around without any background noise of running water.

Lucky you, even non conductive fluid is only such without contaminants. It's good to hear that it's all okay though. I was starting to wonder if you'd gone mad with grief over the loss of your parts and that's why you seemed so happy. :p

You can have a lot of air built up in a radiator without hearing anything unusual, but the fact that everything else was getting hot but the radiator was still really cool to the touch strongly suggests that it wasn't full of water.

Even without fans it should be able to do a decent job. I've just built a new PC with a cooling loop and it was able to cope with running passively without exploding boiling fluid all over the place. :p

Oh btw if your rad wasnt even warm, sounds like your pump wasnt going, your rad should have been the same temp as the rest of the loop.

I'd think there was next to no water in it if it wasn't getting warm at all.

Mine gets tilted every angle under the sun, i dont have a reservoir so i have to do a lot of tilting to bleed it fully.

Where does the air come out if you have no reservoir?

By the way, if your fluid was so hot you could barely touch the tubes, then your CPU and GPU must have been cooking away.

I have the paid version of Aida64 and have alerts set up to shut the PC down if any component goes above a set temperature. It also shuts down if the pump RPM drops too low.
