Not wearing socks ... is it really fashionable/comfortable?

I'm always intrigued by blokes who place great emphasis on their socks as fashion accessories. But this week I was doing some work at an estate agents office (kindly set up by a relative). Today there were four young guys in the office at various times during the day - and three of them had no socks on with their smart shoes and suits!

Apart from being supposedly fashionable, can it really be comfortable? I just don't get it!

I find it uncomfortable. Last Sunday I mowed the lawn in my Hedgehogs, sans socks, and my feet were uncomfortable by the time I was done.

Were they wearing trainer socks so it just looked like no socks (still odd, but at least comfortable) or no socks at all?

Either way; nope, don’t get it.

Are you sure they didn't have ankle socks on? You can't see those at all.

Very unhygenic not to wear socks in shoes.

It's been a bit of a hipster thing for quite a while, loafers with no socks...

(See the now rather old YouTube video: "being a ****head is cool)

Ref the estate agents office I wouldn't be surprised if one salesman, let's call him Alpha Chad, started doing it and then a bunch of other Chads followed.

People with no socks but a smart shoe are usually cretins and not to be trusted. The fact you saw these people in an estate agents says it all really.

I seen it often amongst the 20 something, only way is Essex wannabe crowd.

From what I have read, you actually are setting yourself up for some really nasty infections if you make a habit of this.

Shoes without socks =/= Sandles without socks.

Shoes without socks is a bad idea!

There's a good chance they are wearing socks... just the super low cut ones so they're not visible when wearing shoes. They've got a specific name but I can't remember it.

Aren't they really meant for the more casual trainer-type look, though?

Not generally with suits and formal shoes?

I did this when I had to nip out for something in a hurry and then left my shoes on all day. Needless to say I had a sore patch just below my ankle that got rubbed by the shoe which took an age to heal!

Estate agents says it all.

If they aren’t pretending they’re balling out of control like some Italian fashion designer, it’s over for them.
