Iam ready to buy a cpu to upgrade E8400 ivy bridge will be launched soon and sandy bridge is around 169 bucks, when ivy launches should i wait to by a sandy bridge for less than the 169 currently being asked for a cpu.

Going by previous Intel launches the older CPUs don't drop in price, they just become less easy to get hold of.

However, if you are willing to go second hand then there is usually a lot of the last-gen CPUs for sale second-hand soon after a new CPU launch, this will net you a decent cost saving, but you likely won't be able to use the warranty.

Aye, but there are other ways to buy a second hand CPU, though I would personally buy a CPU new from a good retailer - as you get a full warranty.

The K series quad core Ivy Bridge CPUs are expected to launch at the end of the month.

As for price, I think the i5 3570K is expected to cost around £10 more than the launch price of the i5 2500K, with a similar price increase on the i7 3770K.

i think the prices will be similar, if u can't hold out for ivy bridge and u don't mind sb, go for it now
