Hi guys,

Been considering getting GTA 4 but I'm not too sure how it would run on my PC. I kinda have a low end CPU at the moment.

E4600 Clocked to 3.00Ghz
4870 512MB
4GB DRR2

I heard someone say that you should stay away from this game if you don't have a quad. Would it be playable on my system and still look half decent?

Cheers.

people have mentioned having much higher specc systems and it still running badly.

as far as i know it was just a really bad port, and it wasnt optimised well for pc hardware at all

I agree, runs pretty bad on my system.

Q9550, 4GB, GTX 260 Maxcore.

I gave up on this game a while ago. Just could not get playable framerates no matter what I tried.

I have yet to encounter much of a problem running it on my system.

I wouldn't say it's amazing, but it looks and runs as well as it does on my xbox 360 :)

Runs great on my pc. One of the best ports ever imo. It shouldn't even be called a port, it blows the console versions out the water.

I've had excellent results at max settings with my oc'd 4890XT and Q6600.

Some Screens:

I previously played it through on medium settings with my 8800GT. Now I'm replaying it at max and it's like a whole new game!

I have a marginally more powerful rig (3.15ghz, GTX280) and it runs slowly but 'playable'.
I'd recommend waiting until you have at least tricore if you want a decent framerate, depends on a bit on whether you are the sort of person that has to be playing modern games within a year of release.

the new patches fixed most of the issues with the dodgy port.

Its shuch a great game both MP and SP that its worth a punt IMO

No problems on my rig, just a dual core here and a 3870 too! Just dropped the res to 1680x1050 and it runs well with no slow down.

you should be a ble to play it with playable frame rate on medium textures maybe not at your native resolution.
high textures requires 1gig gpu. id say you'd get a similar look and performance to the consoles.

using fraps i get an ave of 25fps at 1920x1080 with settings on default, it uses about 900mb of my gfx mem.

dont know if its me but when fraps aint on i feels a lot smooth and the frame rate feels like it higher.

No. Very well.

It ran very well on my xbox 360 and runs perfectly fine on my PC :)

Quad Core 6600
4 GB DDR2
Nvidia 260 "maxcore"
1680x1050 res
xbox 360 pad

Looks and plays lovely

Very well on 360? You are joking right? It has so many frame rate drops it's a joke of an engine.
