Ok, so I have a PC which would be used no problem but one day for no apparent reason when turning it on there would be no picture displayed on the monitor.

Typically you would assume the gfx card is faulty but I tried it in another machine and it works. However, when I introduced a replacement card into the same PC that would not work either.

Whenever there is no signal, the monitor displays a message saying that there is no connection, however, on both occassions there was never a non-connected message displayed.

So as far as I can tell, the monitor IS recieving some sort of signal because of the lack of "no signal received" displayed message.

There are no warning beeps from BIOS and it happily sits there powered on.

I have tried a different monitor as well but come to the same results as if I changed the card - black screen but no "no signal received" message.

I am truly flumoxxed and was therefore wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be?

Oh and before you mention it could be the mobo, I even changed that and the same thing is still happening!!

Ultimately, all that is happening is:

gfx card is not displaying a picture but there is no signal on the monitor saying that a signal is not being received (the one you get when you disconnect the cable from the gfx card).

I have tried 2 different gfx cards on 2 different mobos and 2 different monitors and I still cannot get a picture from the cards

The constants within the tests have been:

same memory, same PSU, same CPU and the HDDs have not been connected.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would First try pulling out your cmos battery for 20+mins,then switch your pc on without the ram installed or monitor connected leave it for 10mins,then run it with the ram installed without the monitor connected for 10mins,Then finally turn off and connect your monitor and turn on.
I had exactly the same problem a few months ago and thats how i solved mine.

I had a blown fuse in plug once that did that dont know how it happened i now use a surge protector.
