A guy I know's parents house burned down due to something similar. His mum's dresser had a magnifying mirror used to to put make-up on and a can of hairspray on the table as well. It managed to heat up the can enough that it exploded and torched the place.

my mum has done the same!

She has a magnafying glass in her home office, it was in a desk tidy and the sun caused a cut a line along her plastic in-tray.
