NOTEBOOK: Antivirus.. would you install

As the title says, i'm going to put AVG on a note book. Will it slow it down or is there another AV i can use?

Put an AV scanner on a Memory stick.

I'd also say go for Avira over AVG, as can be seen from the AV comparatives pdf shown, AVG tends to get left behind! If you do go for Avira, if you google it, you can find a way to disable the update notice.

And thats opinion based on tests like the above mentioned, and experience. I've had to clean a few AVG PCs.
This from the AV comparatives kinda says it all:
Avira 53% of new malware detected, AVG 34%.

Microsoft's freebie also isn't that bad, but overall in the larger scale tests I've seen, Avira pips it to the post. MSE is a bit lighter though so if you find Avira too heavy for the machine...
