I've got an old p3 lappy now for a month or so and was woundering, as the lappy has 2 un-used pc card slots on its right side.

Can i buy a usb 2.0 card for it, the lappy only has 1x usb1.0 or 1.1 or whatever, not usb 2.0 anyhow, i'd like more and faster usb.
Also is it possible to buy mini battery's for such slots, for expanding the life by 30 minutes or so? ( atm battery life is 3 hours ) As I noticed winxp power screen showing it supports upto 3 battery's, and I only have 1...

Anything else I should know about pc cards, what general usefull pccards are there, except wireless lan and/or gprs stuff, and soundcards?

Thanks in advance. :)

Depends if the slots are Cardbus or PCMCIA, the former being the preferred option, PCMCIA being pretty much useless these days. USB2 cards are still fairly readily available and cheap. Never heard of cardbus batteries, I wouldn't have thought it possible without some very strange wiring.

You can get cardbus video cards for adding extra monitor support if needed, also an E-SATA card will let you use large and fast hard disks given the appropriate external caddy.

How do I know wich one I have, My lappy is saying this:

''menu'' PCMCIA adapters
(inside the pcmcia menu) :
Texas instruments PCI-1225 Cardbus controller
Texas instruments PCI-1225 Cardbus controller

So I'm confused, do I have pcmcia (as the menu is saying), or cardbus as the 2 controllers are saying?
