Hi all,

I'm in the market for a small laptop (possibly netbook?) and was hoping I could get some pointers.

- Must be small and portable
- Must have decent resolution screen (is 1080p or thereabouts possible?)
- Must have decent battery life
- Must have a disk with reasonably decent performance (one app I use is a bit IO intensive)

I'll be installing linux and using it to test out some personal and work stuff when on the move.

I was hoping to have an upper budget of around £400 but I don't know if this will get me anything capable?

I'd really appreciate some recommendations! Thanks!

well, unfortunately you have stumbled at the first hurdle, 1080p screen in a small portable so assume 11.6-13", sony vaio z is the closest at 1600x900 and at the bargain price of £1799

1368x768 is where it is at. even the samsung series 9 and thinkpad x1 are that res and they are around the 1k mark

your best option for this until monday when the offer ends is the hp probook 4320s 13" i3 laptop at £399 - £100 hp cashback so £299

rather than me post about it use the ocuk search function on hp probook 4320s you will find plenty of info

Massive fail on my part... I can't seem to find this anywhere on an supplier site (I'm uncomfortable buying from the bay), has the model been discontinued? HP's site seems to suggest so!

i hope you found one with the resolution of 1366 x 768 and not the resolution mrk1@1 seems to have invented in most of his recent posts!!! The 4320s is 18months old now and is no longer sold other than through resellers. Still a good bit of kit.
