If I hand in my notice tomorrow and I need to do 1 months notice, when will my last day be?

9/12/2016 +30 days = 08/01/2017

This is a Sunday so the last working day is 6th Friday.

There are paid leave days during this period (company forced).

Your contract will say if it's any different, but your method is the method I've always used.

Company forced leave during that period shouldn't make it any different.

I would say 1 month from tomorrow is 9th January - which actually works out to be a Monday, so you could stipulate your last working day being the Friday - i doubt many would kick up that much of a fuss.

If your contract says 4 weeks notice, then even better, as that would line up with the 6th Jan.

On another note, i think contracts are very poorly worded when they say 1 month, as people can differentiate 1 month as different things - i.e. 4 weeks, 30 days etc. It would be far easier and clearer to all if they just say 4 weeks notice period.

The notice period is as soon as the Money is in your account from wages, then its bye bye.

Take my Christmas pay , then don't go back. That way I could go on holiday too before I start the new job.

Not sure about references though. Don't know if the new place wants them?
