Notification markers have gone

I have an S20 Ultra and yesterday I stopped getting the little number bubbles above each app. I still get the sounds and the flashing lights I have set up but it doesn't indicate which app or the number of notifications. I tried rebooting but yhat didn't do anything. Can anyone please help
