Notify me with a LED light?

I am thinking this is a good idea an 8 colour LED or something? Just like my Android phone. When I receive an email it goes green or messenger app blue? and cana be configured to notify you in some way.

Almost every modern Smartphone will let you customise LED Notifications by colour.

I've come up with an idea similar to this, but for blind people or those too busy knocking one out on another site in IE 5. Basically when you get mail, a voice similar to a well known british actress will say "You've got mail".

The benefit to this is that her voice, if you can forget her face isn't that distracting and allows you to finish, clean up and then switch to the other screen to read the mail. I suppose, if you are radical you could just have it play a beep or a short sound when mail arrives, but I can't see that catching on.
