Hi all...

We're currently live on the Isle of Wight, but I've been asked to relocate to Nottingham by my company. The office is just off junction 26 of the M1 and we're looking for something in the outskirts of the city.

So can anyone who lives in or around Nottingham perhaps tell me of any good places to live. Somewhere that is safe for our young family, and also has good schools.

Cheers

It's really not that bad, it just has its bad areas like any city :p.

Places like West Bridgford are nice, but there's lots of students ;).

Nottingham, take it from me is a **** hole. Only a few nice area's left the rest is filled with chav scum or blacks going around asking you for your personal belongings. Sooner I leave this place the better.

It will be completely differnt from the Isle of Wight, the pace of life is totally different. Personally, it's not a change I would want to make.

not according to Location, Location, Location :p

However several of my friends live there and have no complaints. Pretty much like anywhere else it depends on the area you choose I guess :)

not at all, I basically meant that chavs are a mix of all race's. I have yet to see a white gang go around taking ppls belongings and using brute forge, ie knife and GUN! I do however see black preying on the white! no im not racist just honest

I'd be interested to hear what area of Nottingham you live, Random.

Also, this question was only asked like, a week ago if you search there are plenty of helpful responses in the previous thread.

No I actually live in Mapperly top. Which is a very nice area. I personally have no problems with anybody due to my size/build but I seen kids in the city walking around and having items taken from them....

On a side note, You could live anywhere in Nottinghamshire, Junction 25-27 are near one another and only a 20min drive from one end to the other. I would personally pick somewhere like Chilwell Strelley Village(Where my parents live) Mapperly top and maybe some where like Ilkiston or Eastwood.

So nottingham might not be the place for us by the sounds of it. What are the towns further out like? I'm talking 10 - 15 miles out now?

West Bridgford is nice, 10 mins from Nottingham. Rushcliffe (which is wehre bridgford is) is the 14th BEST place to live according to the channel 4 thing where Nottingham is 4th worst

How come it's chavs and blacks, not whites and blacks? Is it because only a segment of the white population are scum, whilst the whole black population is scum? Just wondering your thought process there.

Well technically Chavs are refered to as white people, so your argument is invalid.

It's okay. Not amazing, but then not as bad as people say. The main city centre is pretty good for shopping and nights out, but after a couple of years of being here I'm pretty bored of most of the bars/pubs/clubs in town. I've lived in Beeston and Lenton, and Beeston is okay, but very small and full of pensioners/students with not much going on. Depends on what you are after for where you want to live but in terms of quiet suburbia Nottingham does it fairly well.

Ilkeston or Eastwood

hahaha. You're kidding right?

I live in Nuthall, literally just off J26, and its a pretty nice place. I could list 50 good and 50 bad places to live in the surrounding areas. Where abouts are your offices, and whats your budget for moving? Certain areas of Nottingham are extortionate house prices, and others are the total opposite.

My Auntie and Uncle live in Newark. I think thats *fairly* close. I always enjoy going there it's a nice place :)
