I went to watch the above pre season friendly game on tuesday night and decided i would take the camera along too. I was positioned right down at the front of the ground just behind the advertising boards literally a few feet away from the press photogs with pretty much the same views as them (the joys of not having any fences in the way :))

Anyway, here is a selection of what I have sorted though so far, as I finish going through the rest i will post more up.

As always comments and critique welcome.

and last but not least spotted this guy with a huge lens on the oposite side of the pitch. Now im not jealous or anything but that is some awesome kit.

Nice shots - it's good that you could get down to the pitch level.

(Also, don't be too jealous - looks like the lens belongs to Getty Images and not the photog, so it's not his personal kit!)

Good shots, I like the expressions on Michael Tonge's face in those, I think with a little bit of a contrast boost they'd be superb. It's a pity united didn't beat them though in that 0-0 draw I think it was. I hope they do well in the premiership next year. Come on blades :)

Great shots mate, really like them. I love the great sharp results that you have got from the 100-400mm l lens, they look great :)

Nice pics antc  Saw you at the end of the game as i was there too. Good Match for saying Notts were against a premier side. 0-0 game
i Will post my shots up later.

thanks for all th comments so far guys, much apreciated.

@ AdWright - was awesome to get down to pitch level, most of the time i knew i was in a good place as i had a pro photog sat in front of my on his little stool:) it was fun to watch them uploading their images at half time then wiring them off to whoever they were working for. made me realise just how much work is involved for those guys.

@ RandomTom - those expressions on mr tonge's face made me laugh, i didnt really notice them at the time of taking the pic.

@ themask70 - the 100-400 is a great lens that always delivers good results in my experience, only thing is i was really struggling with was when the light started to go, and we only had the light provided by the flood lights, found the lens hunted a tiny bit, has to whack the iso upto 1600 to get anything decent.
i guess thats why footy photogs use prime lenses with very fast aperatures.

@howell80 - yeah notts did very well as you said, sheff utd put out a pretty strong side. thinks notts might be in with a good chance this season :)
was nice to see you at the match, make sure you get your shots up howell80, cant wait to see them ;)
