Notura U9S

That's seriously brand overpriced cooler for tiny 92mm fan.
There are lots of better coolers for cheaper, including some step behind the best coolers, like Scythe Mugen 5 which would fit into your case.

Cryorig H7 would have already 1cm loose.

Thank you, I think the Mugen is probably too tall. I did consider the H7 as it's a good fit, but I like the quality of the Noctua products.

Mugen 5 is half mm under official limit and would expect case to have millimeter or so extra over official limit to make sure some pointy heat pipe ends don't scratch side.
And it certainly fits. There aren't many high end coolers fitting into that case, so many have picked it.
But 2.5 mm extra of RGB cover of TUF version likely wouldn't fit.

Also Cryorig H7 is step higher level cooler than Noctua with bigger heatsink and 12cm fan.
Though Mugen 5 is another step higher and only step behind big dual towers.

Aiming to get a U9S for my cpu.

Does this come with thermal paste or do I get some separately?
As already answered, it does.

Lian Li PC-011 Air has 159mm CPU clearance.

The bigger the cooler / the higher it's cooling ability is gives us less noise when running heavy loads. Sure H7 will do the job, but Mugen 5 will likely do it quieter.

NH-U9S is not quite as good as H7 and is more expensive. Mugen 5 cools better at similar price. Shop around for Mugen 5 and get one with fan with top speed of 1200-1500rpm. Some only have 300-800rpm fans .. which is enough for most of the time, but on a really hot day with dirty filters more fan speed will likely be nice to have. ;)

Thanks. Are you 100% sure with that clearance please? I have the case, but not sure how to measure to take into account the motherboard & cpu height.
Stick a steel rule (or any other straight object) up on top of the CPU heatspreader surface and put another straight object across the case's edges.

Thanks, but I don't have a CPU yet. The found a post on reddit where someone found they couldn't fit their NH-U12S. The height of that cooler is 158mm.

159mm is what Lian Li says it is. No reason to not believe it. Below image may help you figuring out how to measure it for yourself
LL

8mm = distance from surface of motherbaord tray to top of motherboard
8mm = distance from surface of motherboard to top of CPU
16mm = distance from surface of motherboard tray to top of CPU

Measure distance from surface of motherboard tray to case side panel, subtract 16mm and you have CPU clearance / how tall cooler can be and stil fit.

From the motherboard mounting tray to the inside edge of the case is 168mm. The glass fits over the outside so perhaps 169mm at a push. Less 16mm gives 152-153mm.

Wow, that's stunningly useful @doyll ! I have the case & will measure today.

FWIW my 011-Air manual specifically states 155mm for CPU cooler clearance, as does the website: (http://www.lian-li.com/pc-o11-air).

Where did you get the 159mm figure?

My mistake. I looked at specs on Google and mistakenly took 159mm as CPU cleanrance, but that is VGA Card heigth. :o

Here is detailed drawing of Mugen 5 Rev.B from Scythe with * on some addition scaled measurements.

Lots more in 011 Dynamic, and it has same 155mm CPU clearance specification.

Bugger! Here's a couple links to where some of above images are:

I would use air cooler over AIO/CLC. They cost less, cool as well, last much longer because only moving part is fan.

Part of the problem is your 8Pack Team 64gb 3600 RAM is 45-46mm tall, meaning there's not enough room between top of RAM and case side for a fan on front of cooler. Some twin towers will fit with only middle fan. Running both front and middle vs only middle only improves cooling a couple degrees when fans at full speed. 2x fans make 3dB more noise than 1x fan and if twin tower with single fan is ran at same noise level as 2x fans temps are basically the same, so only time 2x fans give better cooling is when fans are at full speed .. and if you are like most of us our fans never run full speed anyway.

Scythe Fuma Fuma 2 will fit with fan on front.

Scythe Fuma will fit with middle fan.

Alpenfohn Atlas with middle fan will fit, but it hasn't got quite as much cooling capablity.

All of these are good air coolers.
