Anyone still use this? Anyone going to go down the OES Linux root?

I work in an environment where the senior director thinks its a good idea to run Novell AND Active Directory in tandem.

Oh dear.

Frazzles, we have a few customers still using Novell 5/6 SBS and I've been tasked with potentially moving them over to OES\OWS:SBE. Last time I tried OES it was massively unstable, I'm hoping OES2 is a big improvement. Also, it looks like the SBE product has been cut right back (no Zen) and OES2 'standard' may be the only option.

I'm wondering whether it would be just easier to retrain the users on Outlook et al but after using Groupwise for the last 10+ years I imagine they will not give it up too easily.

Doesn't seem to be a problem for us, as some of my users also use NHS Mail, for all its sins.

I can't stand OES for somethings, and find it needlessly complex for a lot of stuff thats simple on AD, but there are some genius things about it too.

Shame that the powers that be want to run AD alongside Edirectory, with AD being passive but for some other network software.

I'm an AD man, I like the mix of graphics and the occasional cmd window job.

Ive never got 100% to grips with Novell, I mean, I could design and roll out an Edirectory structure, but it would take much longer than AD, which is almost install and go for the basics.
