Interested in one of these, but holding out for bigger nand versions.

Is it really that hard to for manufacturers to put the RPM speeds of their drives into their descriptions? I've trying to find out the RPM for the 2.5 driver and even WD's own website and PDF spec sheet doesn't have it. WTF.

Haha, you gotta feel bad for Seagate, they spent years getting this niche off the ground and then WD just walk in "yup, we're aving some of this action!" XD

Take away speed by making it 5400rpm, and then add back with Nand - daft.

Not really - 7200rpm laptop drives compromise power and noise, for a small improvement in transfer rate and access time. Whilst the Nand will do very little for the transfer rate loss, assuming the caching algorithm is decent enough, it more than offsets any loss in access time.

A bit more NAND would likely work wonders in these though (although I fine line vs the cost I would guess). A 2TB/64GB NAND version would be great for laptops and Playstations though :)

I was told that SSHD drives were naff?

You were told wrong then :)

Yes they are not as quick as an SSD, but they bring SSD like qualities (e.g. improved boot speed, faster directory listings) to drive capacities that are otherwise expensive.
