Hi there

Sapphire are helping us to compete with the awesome NVIDIA Deal on 670 and as such Sapphire have supported us to reduce their amazing 7970 GHz Vapor-X by a whopping £60 to this:-

Sapphire HD 7970 VAPOR-X GHZ 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card @ £289.99 inc VAT

The SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB Vapor-X Edition delivers a similar high performance as the HD 7970 6GB Vapor-X model but at a more aggressive price point. It has 3GB of the latest GDDR5 memory clocked at 6000MHz effective, and runs with a core clock speed of 1000 MHz which with PowerTune Dynamic Boost rises to 1050 MHz on the engine. It has a slightly less sophisticated 8-phase power design and the versatile output configuration of Dual-link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort.

Vapor-X Cooling Design: The brand new Vapor-X cooling design is based on a new vapor-chamber designed especially for the HD 7970 Vapor-X. With two 90 mm HJB bearing fan and 2 x 8mm plus 2 x 6 mm highly efficient heatpipes, the cooler easily handles the heat generated from the HD 7970 Vapor-X even when it is running over 1000 MHz.

TriXX Utility: TriXX allows tuning of GPU voltage as well as core and memory clocks, whilst continuously displaying the temperature. Manual control of fan speed is supported, as well as user created fan profiles and the ability to save up to four different performance settings.

- Hugely overclockable
- Vastly cooler running than previous generation

One of the best 7970's on the market and now mega cheap, stock unfortunately is limited to just 100pc, so grab one quickly! :D

My first one (from another retailer) had serious coil whine and would BSOD, crash & freeze on all drivers.

This one I brought from OCUK. Minor coil whine but I have had to disable flash to get it running without BSOD. Is a pain in Eyefinity and it also artifact's/tears in games. When it works... awesome card but I will be sending mine back soon and swapping it for a 780 + cost.

was looking at 7970 CF but prob going to hold off for the 780s to settle, maybe go sli with them

OK :(
Good to know.
I'm aware that folks have to do some fiddling to get them running well but didn't realise it can be impossible to sort. Low/No noise is important to me so the coil whine would drive me nuts (I thought the coil whine thing had been fixed)

buggy card....

I have this exact card.

I have had zero issues since installation

or are we just making sweeping statements for the sake of it?

you had two faulty cards by the sound of it. unlucky sure, but computer hardware goes faulty sometimes.

+1, I've had mine for 6 months, its a excellent card in terms of performance, I've got my own custom fan profile set, lets the temps go to 69c but it runs very quiet, standard profile is more aggressive therefore louder.

So yeah I highly recommend it.

Damn thats a sweet deal and im Almost tempted... must resist and wait for next gen :D
