So i got scr*w*d by the Irish revenue yesterday. I have ordered tons of games etc over the years from P!@y and never had any hassle.

Yesterday Just Causes 2 came and the post man demanded €13 from my missus before he handed over the game for vat.

It seems as Jersey is not in the EU our tax man is going nuts and scr@wing everyone he can find.

If i was there i would have told him to stick it and send it back, but its now too late as she paid.

It now cost more this way than if i bought it here.

There is no VAT on goods in Jersey, as it is not in the EU. However, on import to the UK (or any other EU country) the goods become liable to VAT. Different countries have different thresholds for values of goods, after which VAT will be due - in the UK, this is £18 or more. The goods are processed by Customs, who will determine how much VAT is due. This is then paid by the carrier (such as Royal Mail) who will then recover the money from the person importing the goods.

However, [email protected] have made special arrangement, via Jersey Post, to pre-pay any VAT charges as necessary so that the customer is not charged the extra. This is indicated by a special stamp on the package, which states "VAT pre-paid".

Looks like the postman is collecting christmas bonuses early ;)
