well i`m sitting here behind my barton 2500 nf7 9800pro comp.. yes its still going and overclockered.well thing is it goes ,but obviously games and this is the main thing it was used for are way above what this poor this can handle.. best i`ve got is quake 4 and doom3. so missing out on crysis and stalker is not good.. with far cry 2 around the corner, and yes this does play far cry well i might add,i`m thinking shall i buy all new rig or do i wait fore the new i7? i`ve waited and waited and am now thinking now or wait again.. if i buy in the next 2 months i need pc to go 4yrs.. like this baby has.. so do i or don`t i.. ps only after cpu ,vid card, ram, case, psu, motherb ,1 sata drive so only main box.. your answers await.. :)

crysis is NOT a good game, i played it and thought it was complete rubbish.

From the Far cry 2 demo ive tried its not particularly a good game, to make it good a few mods need to be done in relation to weapon accuracy and such..

And im finding it very hard to get what your asking, use the enter button a few times!

I would say to wait until i7.. and then either buy i7 or older stuff which will become cheaper.

I find that 99 out of 100 games are absolute rubbish and so i cannot dream to justify spending money on components so i can play rubbish games which have just come out...

If i had to choose, i would rather play Tetris on a old P3 500mhz PC than play crysis on a 5ghz 45nm Quad with Tri SLI GTX 280... (Just to spend 2 hours playing)

Lol, he wanted to know if he should buy a current CPU or wait for i7, not whether you think modern games are rubbish or not! (Also, there is no Far Cry 2 demo )

If you're still on a Barton/9800Pro, I'd be tempted to wait. If you've made the system last that long, it'd seem silly to upgrade right before a major new release cycle. And even if you later decide you don't need i7, the i7 release will lead to lots of cheap Q6600s, etc. Barton CPUs and decent DDR1 RAM still get surprisingly good prices, so you could do a cheap upgrade.

i7 won't be better for games for quite a while, because the gpu is the bottleneck. it would be faster in other stuff etc. though.

i thought crysis was a lot of fun, especially warhead which is really fun, lots of action and beautiful graphics..

i think you would benefit from waiting for i7, overclocking it to 4ghz ish and getting the next gen of gfx cards in your rig, it will be better than the current lineup by quite a bit
