Now that R9 3xx series is here will we being seeing EOL sales on R9 290?

To be fair, nothing stopping the manufacturers recalling all existing stock and re-flashing them along with a new cooler and a few stickers ;)

At a guess I'd say their's less chance than in previous gens...

edit - Just seen you're talking about the 290! Ignore me :p

EOL sales have already been happening for the past month or more, you're late to the party. Best chance now is the used-parts market but 150 for a 290 is... hopeful.

Well since the 390(x) is the same as the 290(x) bar some extra VRAM and lazy overclocks, that would be nice to see, but it would stunt the sales of the 3XX series cards.

Was hoping some retailers might want to get rid of old stock :D Only need 4GB for 1440p and could be decent to make the wait for 14/16nm very, very easy :)

They seem to have been and gone. Prices have shot right back up since the 300 series came out. I got a Vapor-X 290 for £180 brand new from another retailer a few weeks ago and was absolutely delighted with that. Unfortunately, it turned out to be faulty and I had to return it. Still gutted about that. :(

Now they seem to have gone back up to the mid-£200s for 290s and near £300 for 290Xs. Can't imagine they're going to sell at that price though.

EOL generally makes prices rise not fall :(

Edit: The 295x2 might still fall a bit while waiting for the dual fury though? I'd not expect the 290s to fall much if at all though :( then head back upwards as stock dwindles. I guess a lot will come down to how much stock places have left.

gibbo posted about a month or 2 ago to buy 290's then as there were low on price and he gave hints that prices would be going up when the 300 series are released.

he also said it again last week the night before the 300 series were released.

Once 15.20 drivers are officialy released and compared 290 on those to the 390's i reckon theres going to be a max of 5% perfrmance difference between them and that will only be due to overclocks.

Yeah I was rather hoping the 390/x would be a real improvement over the 290/x at a competative price so there would be lots of cheap second hand 290s around so I could grab one for tri-fire :) Doesn't seem to be the case yet though, hopefully in a few weeks after the Fury cards come out as well there will be more heading to the Bay and the MM, not that I can actually get there yet though :(

Members Market :D

In the last year? ive been keeping an eye out for an extra 4 gig powercolor pcs+ 290 on the mm as well....nothing has come up for £105

Unless of course the thread was deleted or the item has been edited out of the seller's post...or the deal was done via email trust and not actually in mm ;)
